Civil Partnership Dissolution

“Our family law team genuinely care about our clients. We make sure that you are ready to end your civil partnership and help you obtain counselling and other services, such as support for your children if it is required"

Klr Solicitors
If your Civil Partnership ends, you need practical, compassionate advice and representation from someone with an in-depth understanding of family law to ensure you receive a fair financial settlement.

Our civil partnership dissolution Solicitors are members of Resolution, a group of over 6,500 Solicitors who follow a strict Code of Practice and aim to resolve family law matters in a non-confrontational manner.
Whenever possible, we will engage in alternative dispute resolution methods such as round table negotiation and mediation. However, going to Court is sometimes inevitable and if this occurs, we will fight formidably to ensure you and your children’s best interests are protected.

Eligibility Criteria

What are the legal requirements for civil partnership dissolution?

The legal requirements for a civil partnership dissolution are the same as for divorce, except for adultery. Therefore, you will need to show:

• unreasonable behaviour
• desertion of two years or more
• separation of two years (consent from the other party is required)
• separation of five years (no consent required)

If you cite unreasonable behaviour we will work carefully when drafting the petition to avoid unnecessarily inflaming the situation.

How long does it take to get a dissolution?

The length of time it takes to get your civil partnership dissolved will depend on several factors. The most important is how amicable you and your partner are towards one another. Choosing to fight every point will only increase costs and stress on all sides. As members of Resolution, our family law Solicitors are committed to helping partners communicate calmly and resolve disagreements outside of Court.
